| They Would Have Life; They Would Have Love
My mother was wearing her favorite white blouse when she moved into the apartment complex. She was told there was a good looking man who lived there. Perhaps she did not move there to find him, but there he was coming home from work. He was not macho; rather he was, at best, 145 pounds with his work boots on. They came all the way up to his knees, and he was blanketed in dirt and sweat from work. When my mother saw him she knew he was the good looking man that lived there. She also knew there was something special about him. Was it that he valued hard work? Or was there some hidden philosopher beneath that quilt of grime? She did not know what was so intriguing, but just as sure as she made her apartment clean, she would exhume what lay buried beneath that dusty facade.
And so it happened on a hot, dry July 30th. My mother, dressed in a white sweats and shoes, was cleaning her apartment; and there he was coming home from work. My mother was unaware, and continued with her task. She took up the trash and went outside to put it in the bin. He saw her and said with a deep, worn voice, “Hello”. She replied with her own clean, sweet, and airy “hello”. Never had he heard such a heavenly greeting. Immediately he was lifted from the depths of his dreary labor, and he was ensnared with excitement of life. His new life would be love, and it would be with her.
And thus my mother began to scrub away the soot that held my father from his life, his love. She would wait for him to come home from work so they could talk. When she was not there my father would whistle, no longer weighed down by his toilsome existence, to call her out to him. Talking grew more frequent and led to dating. Finally, he told her that he loved her. She confessed the same. Those words were the final rinsing that ended with my father standing at the front of the church in his white tuxedo and my mother in her white dress seemingly haloed by her veil. She had found her man who beneath all the dust that was there before was pure. She had uncovered that about him. Together they would have life; they would have love.
| Hello. I am back. Forgive me for my brief hiatus from journaling. Don't worry you didn't miss much. Nothing has changed since March.
Fox's Fitness Guide: For those of you who are interested in keeping the fat off until Christmas here is how to do it. Is it better to run slow or walk fast? Studies have proven that it is better to run slow. The body burns fat at a peak rate when you are going at 65% of your maximum. As you begin to go faster than this the body burns primarily carbohydrates. Therefore, if you want to burn primarily fat going at 65% or slower will do the job. The problem with walking fast is 1) hopefully you are not so out of shape that you reach 65% of your max while walking. 2) Most people walk one mile in 14 to 15 minutes, whereas they would run nearly two miles in the same amount of time resulting in higher calorie burn and sequentially higher loss of fat. Hence, running is superior. Note that 65% is not a hard pace. It is a very easy pace where one could talk to a running partner. Also for burning fat it is best to run for sustained periods ( greater than half an hour). Ideally you will want to run at least an hour but that comes with time. Running for sustained periods depletes the body of carbohydrates and so the body relies on fat as an energy source. Conclusion: run lsd (long-slow distance).
Thinking Theology: The Holy Scriptures is the only sufficient, certain, and infallible rule of all saving knowledge faith and obedience, although the light of nature and the works of creation and providence do so far manifest the goodness, power, and wisdom of God as to leave men unexcusable; yet are they not sufficient to give that knowledge of God and His will which is most necessary unto salvation. Therfore, it pleased the Lord at sundry times and in divers manner to reveal himself and declare that his will unto his church. Then for the better preserving and propogating of the word and the more sure establishmnet and comfort of the church against the corruptions of the flesh and the malice of Satan and the world to declare the same wholly unto to writing, which is necessary those former ways of God's revealing his will being now ceased.

| I recently read an article from the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism. The article was about the macronutrient intake of elite Kenyan distance runners. It was interesting. Apparently these guys only drink a little over 2 liters of water everyday (during the summer) despite the fact that they are running 80 to 90 miles per week. Most of them did not drink before or after runs. That is crazy! I feel some research coming on.
Ok, what can I say? My life is boring. That is why I talk about running.
I have no girlfriend. I rarely talk to my friends. I live like a middle aged man who currently is a non-traditional student. I go to bed early, I wake up early, I eat two bowls of raisin bran and a banana, and I drink two cups of coffee. At night before bed i drink chamomille tea. And all this i do without fail. Everyday. I never go out. I am obsessed with the amount of fiber in my food. It is weird. I am weird. I am not complaining about my life. That is what makes it weird; I enjoy my life.
Thornton is gonna come see me for his spring break. Yes sir.
Tomorrow i am going to the cardiologist to find out why my heart rate rests in the 30s. I hope they tell me that i am inhuman.
Have a good one. | | |
| Howdy. Not much going on here. Old testament class is canceled. That gives me time to study. Hence, i shall waste that time writing on my website.
Yesterday i had a good run. I ran 9.4 miles in 56min. From mile 4.7 to 7.7 i ran at threshold pace. This is the pace where one barely breaks through the threshold, which is the point where lactic acid rapidly accumulates. Threshold pace can be held for several miles due to the fact that it occurs when runs around 85 to 90 percent of his or her maximum heart rate. The idea is that by running right at ones threshold the body learns to buffer lactic acid more efficiently. Therefore the line of threshold is moved higher up. One can then run at a faster pace without building up lactic acid. Hence, one can run much closer to his max without getting tired.
I am deeply distressed by the churches lack of study of the doctrine of God, namely the doctrine of the trinity. The church claims to love God, yet the people of the church shun this doctrine simply based on the fact that it is difficult to understand. To these people's advantage the Bible describes God as mysterious and incomprehendible. So they say, "See i can never understand the trinity. I will ask God when i get to heaven. All i know is the trinity is like water. There is steam, water, and ice. THey are all water, but it comes in three forms." Then after all this is said and done the church goes home and eats food and watches TV. What a travesty! This is a horrible excuse to allow all of our Study Bibles and commentaries to collect dust. This is a sin in which the Church must repent and its people must begin to "Study to show [themselves] approved as [workmen] not ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth." God has entrusted his people with the faith and there are few pastors let alone people in the church who can defend it. To be continued . . .
| Day two. I never thought that i would have a website. I am turning into a real computer expert. Yes sir!
Currently I am vacating from running for yet another day. Still trying to exile the abominable cold from the vast innerworkings of my nasal caves. The last two days we attempted to flood him out with 1.5 liters of high pulp orange juice for lunch. I am feeling better. So it appears the fiend is on the run.
Nutrition advice: If you need some vitamin C have some pine needle tea. Just eight fluid ounces will provide you with as much vitamin C as 32 fluid ounces of orange juice.
